Within the spring of 2010, Joshua David Stein sat down with Christina Aguilera for Out Journal’s Might cowl story (“Christina Aguilera Reclaims the Fame”), forward of the June 4 launch of her fourth studio album Bionic.
Sporting Louboutin heels, “hair pixie reduce and platinum blonde,” the 29-year-old pop shapeshifter dished about her style in artwork, her style in males (and ladies) and her rivalry with pop newcomer Girl Gaga.
By no means one to mince phrases, Aguilera’s feedback about Gaga particularly did nothing to take the Bionic period supersonic—seen in hindsight, the interview is seen by many because the rocket that sunk the album’s ship earlier than it set sail. (It did not assist that Stein described album cuts “Glam” and “Not Myself Tonight” as makes an attempt at “maintaining with the Joneses, or the Gagas.”)
• On perfectionism: “I wish to excellent a vocal and actually ensure that of each word. Even when it is good I am going to go in to see if I get a greater one. However after I get in studio with folks like Linda [Perry] or Sia, I am ready simply to search out inspiration contained in the music another way. I can discover the wonder within the imperfections.”
