We have often said that the country’s Spanish-language corporate media is clearly the largest source and spread Spanish-language propaganda to a vulnerable audience that depends on these news divisions for information on the day’s events. A recent survey has now reached the same conclusion, thus confirming our long-held thesis.
bianvenido-wpa poll Published on October 25, both find that viewers of the Univision and Telemundo newscasts are often misinformed on a number of key issues, and that these levels of misinformation are directly attributable to the network’s unbridled activist impulses—which are our The experience often has the most omitted-wing frames on any story.
For example: 69% of Univision/Telemundo news viewers believed that former President Donald Trump called out all immigrant animals in May of 2018.
See below when then-Univision anchors Enrique Acevedo and Tucker Carlson disputed the term, noting that Acevedo’s stance was fully reflective of how newsrooms reported the statement at the time and that poll (Click on “Expand” to view full transcript):
Tucker Carlson: Enrique Acevedo is an anchor for Univision. He is with us now. Enrique, you seem like a reasonable person. How did you settle with the group in the media defending MS-13? Have you ever thought you would be there?
ENRIQUE ACEVEDO, UNIVISION Anchor: I don’t think any humans are animals, Tucker. But I am not here to defend criminals. Not sure if anyone else –
Carlson: Oh, yes, you are.
ACEVEDO: If you’re all for law and order, I don’t think that degrading someone less than human serves that purpose. You would expect the President of the United States to speak of our highest ideals, not just our worst instincts.
Carlson: So, to put it in some context, here are some recent headlines about MS-13. Police say the MS-13 gang stabbed a man 100 times, beheaded and took out his heart. MS-13 beat sex trafficker girl with bat 28 times. A 14-year-old Houston girl kidnapped, drugged and raped by an MS-13 member at the Satanic Temple. I could go on. When you hear those people described as animals, you get annoyed. Why? Why would people doing this need to be defended by you? What are you saying about what Trump said?
ACEVEDO: I guess we can’t pretend to see it in a larger context. We can’t pretend that this isn’t part of a larger trend that began before Donald Trump became president, the tendency to criminalize and dehumanize all immigrants, not just the bad guys. The question was about the members of the gang who are working inside the US. President Trump replied –
Carlson: Yes, MS-13.
ACEVEDO: (Inaudible) Frontier animals coming across.
Carlson: No. Look, I’m not here to defend all of Trump’s views, but in this particular case he was asked about MS-13. He has been talking about this for over a year. And he said, They are animals. Now, you might not like that word. Maybe it’s wrong or whatever. But I find it so interesting that you rush to defend the MS-13. Is there no one else you can defend? Aren’t they attacking other deserving people? You need to defend a street gang that worships the devil and beheads people? Do you wake up in the morning and ask yourself, how did I get here? I’m a decent person, why am I defending MS-13?
ACEVEDO: I’m not sure what you mean when you say I defended MS-13. I actually started this interview by saying that I am not here to defend a criminal.
Carlson: And then, you keep defending them when you say they were dehumanizing.
ACEVEDO: All I’m saying is that no human is an animal.
Also consider the Florida Parental Rights in Education Act. Latino media joined the Left in fake framing of the bill as “Don’t Say Gay”. bianvenido-wpa poll found that A staggering 82% of Univision/Telemundo News viewers believed that “Florida has a law that prohibits students and teachers from saying the word ‘gay’ in all public schools.” Given their unrestricted coverage of the bill, one is tempted to look at the 82% number and ask, “Why so low”?
77% of respondents thought Dobbs outlawed abortion throughout the United States, as depicted in the pictured image. Additionally, 66% believe the 2016 presidential election was stolen by Russia.
Spanish-language media is also a threat to democracy by skewing perceptions of the major issues of the time. Consider that, according to the survey, inflation and cost of living are top issues of concern for voters in the 2022 mid-term election. However, it ranks 11th only for viewers who rely on Spanish-language news. why would they think otherwise when Univision, for example, all assured them that the “Inflation Reduction Act” would take care of inflation.,
BORJA VOCES: And on Saturday the Senate will vote on the controversial “Inflation Reduction Act,” a key package on President Biden’s agenda. Yesterday, and after several days of talks, Arizona Senator Kristen (sic) Cinema extended her support to the project that according to experts will help combat the inflation we are experiencing. In addition, it would reduce the fiscal deficit and the price of certain drugs, tax large corporations, and allocate millions to fight climate change. After getting the green signal, it will be sent to the House for approval.
You can expect a strong renewal of “Spanish-language misinformation” once the smoke from the 2022 midterm election has completely cleared. But now you know that such tropes really have no basis.
True broadcasters of Spanish-language propaganda are not conservatives on the radio or on social media. Instead, the data shows it is perpetrated by leftists embedded in corporate Spanish-language newsrooms. This is why Spanish-language media is trusted by Hispanics less than ever before.
The market continues to cry for options.
